Peregrine Falcon at TPL

Imagining as transformation

The sequence of photos somehow reminded me of a North Coast 1st nations transformation ritual

In Reality the young falcon was just becoming wary --- and soon opted for fleeing

Species at Risk listing

New Record? Breeding nearby?

Good over view species

Subspecies – pealei

PEFA

Peregrine Falcon

Falco peregrinus

Rare at Triple

Every summer there are a couple sightings – here it is a juvenile – and perhaps that explains the few sightings – dispersal from another area where nesting took place

Usually all we see is an ‘inspection’ fly by as the peregrine checks out any potential dinner of seabirds

Soaring

Sequence below from flight video – showing characteristic ‘strong & powerful wing beats’ of falcons

Summer 2001

Serendipitously the sighting was almost on exact same day 25th thru 27th of July  --- this one was alone and was honing its skills at capturing sea gulls ---- but went hungry for all its efforts
