GEOLOGY

Much of the spectacualar scenary in the lower Skeena is produced by River forcing its way thru mountains. The map on right shows how geology is controlling rivers path to sea

Windsor Point (Hot Springs) and upper Ecstall River area

These aerial photos give a sense of the land -- series of rivers/ watersheds at right angles to Skeena River. Like wrinkles these parallel mountains resulted from Terranes colliding.
More recently Ice has been the dominant force scultpting the landscape regionally

These spectacular landscapes are under increasing pressure from logging companies.

Ecstall Watershed Port Essington, Big Falls Hydro dam, and salmon streams

I was surprised to see the extnet of this watershed. Environmental groups have named it soul to the Ecstall Rainforest.
It is not untouched with hydro, logging and development eroding its seemingly pristine waters.
