Orca Pod XX

Visit to TPL on 2 June

Too bad LG is so poor a cameraman as this pod of 9(?) adults and 2 (?) juveniles spent about 5 minutes within ¼ mile of us – much tail slapping and presumably feeding around the Nerocystis kelp beds and along tide strand lines

This is 40+ seconds long footage of several clips put into one WMF file – ends with the tail slap – 1.7 Megs

Here is just the tail slap sequence as MPG file 700K

Next day 14- 30 Orcas fish off TPL

Same pod as day before? This looks like the ‘bent’ dorsal of previous day

Same Pod ??

Orcas were feeding

Thus quick dives and my poor camera work meant only few images actually ‘saved’ and none good enough for ID

’patch’ is artifact of image?

Hurried glimpses as feeders pass us by

Left is Orca mother & calf – glimpsed only fleetingly out a window as they surface to catch a breath of air

Humpbacks are seen in distance but only occasionally do they put on a ‘show’ at TPL
