Both guide books that treat local BC Fungi only give 2 species of tooth fungi to chose from. The illustration right shows we have the “navel” bearing species here (Hydnum umbilicatum) but see below. |

Here is a tooth fungi collected in Smithers by the Shaws. The brown spore print means it could not be a Hypnum. In
fact modern
taxonomy has split these fellows into a different family altogether. . |
