Mounts Mission and Morse --- Across the harbour

Almost every photo or painting of ships at wharf in Prince Rupert Harbour have these two mountains as their backdrop.

McNichol Creek Village dating back 1,600 years ago. Already had larger house ("royalty") -- lower right--and numerous other houses perhaps living off pink salmon run. Estimated ca 125 people.
McNichol Creek wends its way up Mt Morse and is habitat for a pink salmon run (grey area on this DFO map), but don't get beyond the 4 meter falls (greyed).

Coho are also breeding in various tributaries.

While this larger image has been manipulated I can still see the various tree ecosystems emerging --- easiest seen in ridges and streams. And note the areas covered in snow or slides in 1910 fotos.
