Here is the web
site for the “official” version of ncLRMP
(not well maintained but becoming more useful) Most useful
are the Maps Compare the interest
statements of different ‘sectors” & component groups Official “summaries” of meetings BC Mines Site &
LRMP IWA site Conservation site |

Only Table
Rep can speak |
|
Selecting a
Table rep who can, will represent local regional & national perspectives
is harder than it looks. Tourism
(backcountry vs front country) is the most visible but I hear several other
sectors are having problems too. Perhaps to
give ‘locals” more input the Minister parachuted in 4 new “local government”
seats in June, potentially destroying the process as others way the “consensus”
format with reality of political poser and agenda |
Mining was not in
previous LRMPs but thinks present “New Era” priorities
match the industries
and thus willing to participate

IWA as “local” union
I hear there
is some dissatisfaction with BC Fed for parachuting in a Vancouver Island IWA sector
rep along with a Terrace based alternate. After some arm-twisting I hear the PR
Labour Council
will get more
input and perhaps the alternate position. Here is a good analysis of current
forest industry changes from IWA perspective

Some
like ‘local government’ rep Paddy Greene see this April 4 2001 agreement as a “disaster”,
and presumably want to prevent it from happening here. Others see it as the
true road to a sustainable future.
Whatever
the cc LRMP is a must for getting the background and source of battles that are
fought at this NC LRMP
The official site
– ccLRMP especially relevant
is process completion
The New Era
cabinet documents on May 22nd decisions are also essential
All those “protected”
areas scare some but check
the small print
