Prince Rupert Harbour Foreshore Habitat Classification The Port and DFO , joined later by local governments first did an inventory of the harbour habitats and then "In 1998, the Steering Committee commissioned a consultant to develop a foreshore classification scheme to classify the intertidal foreshore habitat into a three-class system based on fish habitat value" The figure left was the result. Red areas are considered most sensitive, green the least. Monitoring a site would make great School biology project!! The publication has some useful biology including good physical habitat descriptions. There is an ACCESS database, though the one I have has all the information stripped out of it except the numbers and some general notations like "eelgrass beds present" |

The Landsat image left is from BC Energy and Mines site. It is much the same area as the figure above
Original images and access database provided to me by the PR Port Corporation. Much thanks
Any Comments???
