Do grazers control vegetation on seashore?

Limpet (center left of cleared area) keeps the Prasiola (green alga) cleared

I could feel a slight depression (dotted line) and the limpet was inside it – which ‘explains’ how it ‘homes’ to same spot. I also have added a yellow line to make its shell more visible

 

Grazers and Increasing sunlight have effect

June 19th 2003 – Prasiola on way (seasonal decline) while the red crust more prominent—cleared areas attributable to limpets (L digitalis)
