FishWizard site

Klunky but useful

(requires plug ins etc)

 Best place to Start

Or go directly to Wizard page

Map left has sockeye, and ‘watersheds’ layers turned on

Can also get other spp fish etc

the obstacles to fish migration also useful

Lots of information on site but not intuitive to work with

From this screen can get available info by clicking on a point

Zoomed in on Banks Island

Appears to have ‘obstructions’ layer turned on Could click on the point and find passable to fish, height etc

Another choice will allow reports on escapements of Fish spp chosen from 1950 to 2000

Better to use 2 different Windows

Fish Data Warehouse also has lots good info and should be used in conjunction with FishWiard for best retrieval of info

Use the Watershed Code

Most North Coast streams and lakes have numerous names so quicker to use the watershed code – if the number gives several selections of waterbodies choose the most general – the one with all zero’s as below for whole watershed summary

Watershed Code : 915-560000-25100

Waterbody Identifier : 00000MBNK

Another View or Third Window

BCGS Map place good site

Choose the BCGS Geology map – requires plug in

Often the flat maps of FishWizard do not make sense so need another view --

Here have the Geology layers turned on and those are different formations within the ‘granite” intrusive

Can also get satellite imagery etc form this site or contours colored as below
