Pelagic Cormorant

Phalacrocorax pelagicus

This looks like the total resident population sitting out the tide

Diving for Seaweed July 2000

Pelagic Cormorant colony near Triple so we get to see them diving for subtidal algae to build their nests with – see the video WMF file 212K --- and here is similar sequence where the cormorant has a mouthful but dives again for more (WMF 215) TPL_cormorant_dive1.WMV

 

Sentinels

This is our more typical view of Cormorants – standing on rocks drying their wings etc--- looking like some Raven of myth changing cloasks to visit beneath the  water-world
