Vigorous
growth in Spring Hard to spot
but once you see what your looking for it is ”everywhere” |
The
‘trick’ is to look for the air bubbles |
Phylospadix
does not have many epiphytes (other algae growing on it) at this time of
year. So when you see some during low tide of the day and see lots of bubbles
you probably got Kornmannia on it |
See
‘em?? |
Of
course the tidal pool is getting good light and the Kormannia is ‘happy’
turning sunshine into energy--- all those bubbles draw ones attention |
Putative other

Here its an
obscure spring epiphyte on Fucus |
hardly see it on the Halosaccion
But much larger by 18th
Here
is a page showing both on
Halosaccion as left and more on Fucus; it will take DNA work to see if this is
a new species or similar o one on phyllospadix |
