the same species of coralline algae survived on the shelf where probably flow
water from mussel bed but dies on the slope down – suggesting wind chill to
me |

the submerged crust like coralline retains its pinkish color while the same
species above has 75% mortality |

shown here the lower inter tidal areas where the swell are strongest went
unscathed; presumably splashed with ‘warm’ water sufficiently to protect them
from freezing during same exposures as above |
