Nucella eggs

February

Reproduction this year

In 2004 the snails held a largely attended meeting in this area of tidal pool and ‘decided’ not to produce any more young that year.

Thus it is a very small population that produced eggs – we’ll see how many survive to become adults

And several years ago (2002) this colony whelks produced huge number eggs

Over Already

Nucella snails are already moved away and resumed feeding on barnacles by 26th Feb
