While the 3
patches are still evident in broad outlines each has lost much of its diversity
and coverage over the winter This is a
pretty exposed area so not unexpected. In a few
months the area will be turning green (see below) and I visited the site to
see if anything suggested that change – nothing obvious this early in season
though |

Last may there were more coverage and species here; I came back to this site to see what is causing the ‘Greening” – in Feb 2005 there is no sign of any green but see below --- note the Endocaldia all gone (Endo) |

Here
is the same without the green lines; we can see the algae to left of caliper
is ‘different’ – taller and more robust – we will follow over next few months
