Upper burn site

West side of Burn

The red M marks putative Mastocarupus (see Below)

Looking up shore – M is Mastocarpus see below

 

 

 

I have included the images comparing site from before it was burned

 

I was struck by the red (algal) areas in upper intertidal on left side of the image

And found “Mastocarpus” (both ‘original’ and regen – see below on this side (west) in contrast with east side

the putative mastocarpus (M= original?) grows well in this area – as below – the M is area of close up right


Material needs to be followed later in the season once becomes reproductive

That is Blidingia (image below) so assume still in regenerated material (or edge?)–  there are scattered blades/ colonies of Mastocarpus (?) M
