May 18th about 8 PM They were not
like this on the morning low tide but by late afternoon it
looked like someone had been attacking the sea stars. But looking around
could find others too. The ones
producing the most were similar to this one—relatively large ones usually
alone on top of a rock. By the next day none were evident anywhere (hidden in
crevices etc) |

busy eating a mussel and still exuded the stuff |

The
stuff does dissolve in water but not immediately --- here it is below water
and no evident discoloration of water etc --- but close look into pool
revealed slightly discoloring -- |
