DFO Eulachon
site good place to start for the Science |
I watched the Kitimat River die, now I am witnessing the Kemano dying too elder R Green
1st
day agenda --- below |

Both these
graphics show abundance |
I
include this one because it shows many smaller streams where Eulachon found
other than the 9 distinct units below It
was pointed out no (sustained) Eulachon runs on Islands --- glacier fed
rivers seems to be the clue here for homing using scent etc |
Note here
quantitative data vs qualitative |
I
will come back to these later --- when this graphic done the Skeena &
Nass both considered healthy (2008) Most
the real interest of conference is in the stories etc from individual 1st
nations reporting on their Eulachon river and its significance especially
to elders |
Doug Hay
comes out of retirement to talk Eulachon |
While
Uriah Orr did some of the first studies on North Coast Doug Hay was
Eulachon studies for many years working on a budget of 10T$ he managed to
provide earliest info on this forgotten forage fish his work mainly on
Fraser River at first more later |
Status of
the Rivers |
Fraser
done here --- and we have some of best long term data from there though Don
Roberts (Kitsumkalum), along with Clyde and Willie Beynon now providing
excellent Skeena River info (more later) |

Links on my other Eulachon pages might not work because of
