Update link on graphic

Pressure

Grey Islet is offshore and open to Nass River outflow

Note the winds dropped off as pressure began to rise --- i.e. the outflow caused by approaching offshore low pressure ceased  -- but need direction (on table) to show this

Wind

Use Table for direction winds etc

Pressure

Bonilla Island –offshore and not subject to outflows

-----------------

Here we had the opposite from Grey Island as Bonilla not so sensitive to outflows as low approached

Note low passed about same time as Grey Islet

Wind

Lucy Island

Here the wind began to rise --- so we need to see the direction also --- there we see there was a wind shift from NW to SE

Wind

Pressure

Prince Rupert Airport

Winds fell off then to calm as pressure bottomed out (around 8AM) then increased and changed direction (use table for direction etc)

Wind

Use table for wind directions etc

Pressure

Holland Rock in PR harbour near Ridley

Because of its relatively protected location best for local winds but pressure readings supplement airport thus bottomed out at 7 AM (presumably rounded off to nearest hour)

Pressure

Table for Sandspit data

Sandspit Airport

Note here the pressure bottomed out about an hour before Holland Rock – and was lower at Sandspit

Low passed 7AM – North Hecate

By looking offshore to Middle Nomad etc – we see the system passed there around midnight

Using Internet to ‘see’ North Coast Weather

We can often predict our own weather (at least the timing) by closely observing what is happening regionally --- and the pressure readings are probably best info for this purpose---

I have used the system that came ashore Sunday morning (November 2, 2008) for illustration here

Contrasting Grey Islet with Bonilla, & Lucy offshore lights showed the effects of ‘outflow winds’ as the system low approaches coast --- Then Holland Rock and PR Airport for ‘local conditions’

And finally looking at more regional scale using off shore buoys and Sandspit Airport
