Skeena R reaching its maximum

But nothing like 2007

Last year river peaked June 5th to 8th --- And given the record snow pack in 2007 – some of highest discharges ever recorded for Skeena happened last year – perhaps altering river course in some stretches

Real time river heights from this Env Canada page--- choose either map search (easiest) or text search on left column

The 2006 –2007 graphic from July 2007 where I was looking at how long the Skeena would stay ‘high’ – thus preventing sockeye fishers to make good sets

Given ‘cold’ La Nina year melt started later

Note how low the water in winter 2005

Previous years ----

Onset of freshet

Here I have used the Maximum temperatures reached at PR Airport using AWOS as proxy for ‘regional’ temperatures

I should have used site closer to Usk – but lets assume similar curves

Using 15C as reference – in 2005 almost all month averaged 15C while 2006 and 2007 similar each other in that average rises to 15C only after mid month and week later in 2008
