Cow Parsnip

Heracleum lanatum

Being pollinated by flies in late May --- is that why takes so long to flower?

March 23rd it is just sprouting out of over wintering roots

Lots of energy goes into raising up the plant body every year – just to become a hollow stem by autumn

Full growth by early July

Making Seeds – note small insect at V

Seeds beginning to mature – ones on right attractive but may be diseased and will never produce viable seeds
