2007 coldest
June SST since 2002 (using 10°C)
|
|
Is there a pattern? Superficially
looks like 2000-2002 was similar ‘cooling off’ as 2005-2007 (using 10°C) Note when I did
this for May 2003-2005 were increasing warmth – as is true here too --- but
unlike May 2000 was hot and 2001 and 02 were cooling off |

Using the
SST anomaly data |
|
Here
the North Pacific looks to have been cooling off since 2005 – and from BC
perspective waters coolest in 2007 --- but if look at Bering Straits area
then looks like 2006 was ‘coolest’ and 2007 follows trend since June 2000 of
increasing warmth – and 2006 (La Nina) was coolest of series |
|
See
my 2006 SST articles where series in
seasons not all one month See
also the 2005 PDO article where concept
flips from one steady state to another --- suspect with Global Warming explanatory
concept now being used |
Any guesses for 2008?
|
|
The anomaly
data implies to me that 2006 and 2007 don’t indicate a flip in the system to
another cooler state but that 2008 will again show warming SST in June ---- Source of SST
