NSR or when the trees did not grow back

‘The NSR (pink arrow) areas above on Porcher were logged in early ‘80s. There are large areas just off the photo,

Was any of it replanted? Whatever if another entry into the area is made one should “repair” whatever went wrong before.

Kwinitsa In Kalum District

The example on left may be telling us something important.
Why hasn’t the area regenerated?. Was it soil nutrients? Porcupines? Strong Winds?

ECSTALL RIVER Bottom Lands

This was probably logged a long time ago. There are extensive areas (yellow) that presumably have grown back into a non commercial species

Pink Arrow points to NSR lands on Porcher Island.

There appear to be three classes of NSR (Not Sufficiently Restocked). Older logging that was not planted and failed to regenerate to a commercial species on their own. Or some sites were so fertile they were taken over by weeds. Some are NSR because insuffiicnt time has passed since they were cut and replanted

Any Lessons Here??

Logging  appears to date to late ‘80s

Red areas are proposed Interfor cut blocks yellow areas are NSR

Union Passage areas NSR

Worrisome

Some of the areas below appear to have been planted and they are still NSR,

Has the fieldwork just not been done or is there a silviculture problem here? Better make sure before opening up many other areas.

UNION LAKES SYSTEM

Worrisome again. Why has this area failed to regenerate?

Logged a decade ago

Baker Inlet (below)

Again extensive areas of NSR. Why? Will it happen again?
