Just when
the LRMP process begins Interfor wants to take the visual quality off the
table by asking permission to log this (now) scenic corridor |

When Tourism was important The document
on left was part of the process in the mid 1980s which looked to protect
“other values” from industrial logging. This
culminated in a moratorium against logging our inside passage until some sort
of public landuse plan was in place. That moratorium lasted a decade. As the
search for new and easily accessible wood intensified the pressure has grown. Now just as a public LRMP is to begin, Interfor (and to much less extent Small Business) are looking to log the Grenville Channel area. Comments
on Interfor’s FDP have to be given to the company by May 15th ‘01 |
