Comparison with Original Tanu Pole

The Wolf carving attached at the top was lost.

It seems out of place and Emily Carr left it out of her painting too,

Jeffery had a very old pole to copy from and we can see he made some wrong guesses once we see photos of the original

More Myth Figures

On left is a killer whale—note the tail flukes—

But the hands indicate this is a supernatural being.

The bear on right seems to relate to it but we can no longer interpret the association.

Sea Grizzly?

The top figure is also a supernatural and probably relates to the killer whale.

The potlatch rings on the “human” head looks to be Jeffery interpretation,
Still this white faced “man” eludes us now. Are those ears protruding out the side?
