Decaying / new infrastructure

Seal Cove Bridge

Closed for repairs

Luckily the rot was detected early

The fear was that a heavy truck might cause rotting timbers to break

And see below where new sidewalk put in as a safety issue --- but cruise ship concerns mainly

Partially
repaired

New footings already placed

-- the other side looks OK

(image below taken from opposite side of bridge)

New Infrastructure

It was felt that pedestrians walking behind cars to bet to McBride street were potentially at risk – so the sidewalk built --- mainly to protect the tourist from the cruise ships and not locals --- as ‘threat’ has been there for years

Week before

Here is concrete poured and plywood to protect until dried
