Old CBC building w parking lot

“It’s a no brainer’

5900 sq ft of office space

The Argument:

(see below for more)

At 44T$ rent per year for present location SCCRD can own for only 2T$ more {over 15 years}

City was hinting other uses for present location

City wanted SQCRD to go ‘halfers’ on maintenance costs etc

Archives needs climate control and more space

Loan will be thru MFA thus near prime conditions

Needs maintenance and inadequate

Archives Needs

More space to house its collections and climate control; while could move in with the Museum that building has poor conditions and expensive to install for climate control

Plus can sell more products to public/ tourists it have better location

Originally special built for CBC during the ‘Cold War era’

Thus ‘built like a bunker’ with concrete internal walls and concrete roof

Down side is that makes renovations expensive

Parking Lot

Price of building includes the parking lot across street which has real estate potential in future

Hey SQCRD can even rent car parking spaces for all day parking

Old RCMP building was looked at but insufficient floor space and archives needs not addressed
