City buses --- I saw long line ups at
City Hall to purchase January bus passes ---- Lots of people depend upon
those buses --- but gets little attention from council etc
Could
be one of most significant issues of 2012 |
Public input?? ‘Ownership and jurisdiction’ --- more info needed on water
lots |
For
Rupert the CN Station and Kwinitsa |
More than just iconic’ – could be the immediate future of
PR Tourism – especially in days of sinking Titanic centenary |
Area
under discussion |
Almost
‘story book’ that Rupert becoming (again) so dependent upon Rail Traffic for
economy |
Chance to celebrate Rupert’s history --- but also ‘lesson’
that depending upon China trade etc may not be our
best ‘bet’ on future ---- better to keep our future options open --- thus
again importance of CN station etc and tourism |
Emphasis
here on ‘jurisdiction’ and foreshore |
Again this goes back to founding of Rupert – when
foreshores ‘granted’ --- but I will have to do more research |
Not
on the Agenda |
I see the ‘Emergency Building’ as the main issue of 2012
to decide |
I
hear the Fire station is in worst shape – leaky roof etc
Still we need a broader discussion – Like discussion
whether volunteer or full time fire fighters best for Rupert in 2012 with
population 1/3 smaller than a few years ago And we now have a smaller ‘complement’ of RCMP officers –
used to have 32 --- now 25 or 26--- need the facts – more later |

Looked
like ‘paper’ or something on wires – which was removed Good
to have the crew in town before real damage done |
All
that wind and rain |
Pineapple Express coming off Hawaii – little windy – but
very mild for this time of year |
A
new process |
Again time will tell |
Presentations
daily for groups explaiing why they require
taxpayer $$ |
Strange to see such public services as the City Library
lumped in with the Golf club and Tourism And one would suspect the sale of half the Museum building
should be covering the ‘mortgage’ --- so apples and oranges being compared?? |
Comparing
PR Airport with City Hall in December |
About 70% --- I am dubious that Airport gives much
priority to daily emptying the rain gage --- |
More
after Council meeting
Pouring out booze --- best way to stop Vandalism etc is to catch the drunks etc
early |
