Perfunctory Council meeting

Going through the motions – imminent election

Description: DSC09133

Preliminary look –Rest later when video put on-line

Description: DSC09132

Note that 2 Councillors absent

Kinney had a previous meeting with daughter in Alberta --- someone was saying Gordon Payne ‘off flying somewhere’– and she is not running anyways – some one else mentioned she had sent them some home made pastry (apple tart)--- all this ‘chatter’ must have been from the councillors as only 2 media types and 1 Mayoralty candidate showed up for meeting --- still given on TV and ‘streamed’ over internet – it was an easy choice to stay home --- given the short agenda/ the election/ and the snow showers

Probably the ‘best’ part of meeting was Zeno

Arrow points to his sash (worn in the ‘Miz Judged’ beauty contest --- His comment was that he was retiring the sash (costume?) – sending it away somewhere – but that he would remain clean shaven – as his oldest(?) son had never seen him clean shaven – and he was due into town sometime soon ---- but then the moustache would return

The passing of the Delegation Bylaw was main topic – and I will return to it after Video Replay –on-line

Some discussion over the Variance Permit

Joy commented –did we not see similar previously

Which allowed Mayor Mussallem to name the previous property and explain the ‘postage sized lots’ due to the back part of all these properties on a steep ‘hill’ going back into the park --- More later

I admit when I took the photos – I was thinking of Mussallem – and his Alpha Male routines --- but at Council he was very mild and courteous to everyone –even his opponents etc

Two Bucks crossing the Highway – everyone stopped – sort of reminds one of the Moose problem in Newfoundland --- and maybe a cull needed here too

Jack and in-camera meetings

In the background are the Containers on CN RR cars ---- Mussallem keeps mentioning the agreement Council struck with CN about train whistling --- but the details have never come out in public --- so no way to judge how effective ----- almost every night one will hear a series of whistles etc --- but could be just an automobile at some crossing etc

Plus Mussallem mentioned as some of his accomplishments at Candidate For a – how City had leased property to Port with 2 year legal terms that must provide some sort of building --- I don’t remember this being announced in a Council meeting --- but in its way typical of Jack --- see my earlier where ‘someone’ announced SQCRD name change

A Problem?

Seems to be an ongoing problem of trucks parking on sidewalk – perhaps guests at Highliner --- often with Alberta plates --- ‘problem’ appears to be the angle paring --- and the length of their trucks – to be fair they are either going to block a lane of traffic or cut off pedestrians --- where is Zeno when we need him?

One of these had an Alberta plates – there all weekend

I will come back to election Thursday

Probably the best online use is by Jen Rice --- who brings both youth and computer smarts --- thus the Lester Center debate is being put online from her site --- http://votejenrice.com/all-candidates-video-recordings

Plus www.bedard4mayor.ca --- but may be too large to see (70 plus images loading)

One could be sure Mussallem won’t be doing a web site of his own – the going ‘Prince Rumour’ is that he does not use computers at all --- and that is why he needed a full time clerk to handle his emails etc
