Wednesday May 25th

First look at Council meeting

Presentations most the show

Sheila Gordon-Payne was Mayor for the meeting

Handled herself well with only occasional mistake – but then makes some good chair type decisions too

KAPS and Gardens

I will have to return to this one – almost 30 minutes discussing plans and wish list, then Council’s questions and asking for priorities --- Bedard suggested a Co-op might be a productive direction to go but wanted a ‘site plan’ for expansion and greenhouse etc ‘in order to get the neighborhood buy in at some future public meeting etc

The Shared vision statement was worth of highlighting – from their presentation sheet

Ted Keehn also gave presentation asking for use of Civic Center Auditorium for local youth bands – more later

Terry Intermela and Barry Cunningham asking for letter endorsement to renew their Bingo licence – seems to provide about half (30T$) the funding of this local resource that all agreed was ‘invaluable’ – everything from EI claims to help filling out tax forms etc

PR Unemployed Centre

Sheila Gordon Payne gave me her copy from which the 2 following images taken

Shannon Hurst hands out extra material on the 10T salmon project

The request was to set up the paper mache and lacquered salmon

Where to put them and ‘upto 750$ to purchase the metal poles (if necessary) as were not recyclable from the previous exhibit up river --- more later --- but note too the wood carving of Skeena River watershed (below) – part of exhibit

The ‘spring’ is late

We are entering into the ‘white flower’ phase --- but notice the dandelions left --- those nearest the stone wall have already gone to seed while those along sidewalk still n flower and those between are post flowering but pre seed head phase – presumably all effect of the heat form wall hastening the maturing –very ‘local climate’

I have also attached a few ‘white’ flowers from the Sambucus (elderberry) showing 3 pistils and 5 anthers etc--- plus one beetle (pollinating?)

I will return to this later --- it was given to me by Dan Rodin from the public questions I had placed at ‘Budget’ meeting ---- plus a long but interesting letter to Chamber of Commerce on their questions --- more Friday

RCMP now 29 and the approved additional member makes 30 when arrives July 1st etc – more later
