More later

Large numbers of people (estimates to 400+)

Many guessed about 300 for the Mariner Park ‘speeches’ phase ---- but once the line started snaking past the Casino and down across the RR tracks actual counts looked more like 400 etc

I hear permit the gave a specific route tp follow and organizers were getting antsy when the Casino entrance was targeted – and others say the Casino Security was even more worried --- notot fear though – some delegates happened out and said the chanting etc was not heard inside.

I will return tomorrow to significance of speeches and protest rally

CN and Waterfront walk

At this stage still in the rumour stage—the story is going that come July 1st CN will bring in a full time CN cop to enforce a no trespassing edict --- excluding all vehicles and pedestrians ---a favourite walk for locals and tourists alike

Funny part is that there has been a debate between CN and the City for decades over whose road this is – City says it is CN’s and CN says City.

Seems neither wants to do the paving, potholes etc --- So when the new cop tells you to leave ask his ‘authority’

While not many ‘buskers’ seen --- the parking lot ‘farmers market seemed to work well

Convenient to the Cruise ship etc --- and ‘all’ agree the ‘fish chowder’ was excellent

Image below shows the beginnings of tearing down the old cannery to make way for a 1st Nations culture display – more later

And even an Eagle came to view the Cruise ship

More later – needless to sy many photos were taken

At one time these would have been gillnetters and trollers etc

Is Tourism the ‘Future’?

This was the ‘debate’ I previously used Marven versus Danny from Hartley Bay to articulate --- Art Sterritt suggested that 40 years ago there would have been 3000 gillnetters in PR harbour at this time of year – now there are a handful --- Is Sports tourism a viable PR future? I will argue it is not

But while I was snapping images of declining sun I was practically run over by ‘speeding’ young kids

The clearing weather brought beautiful sensets

The one with arrow did not make slightest effort to avoid me – nor slow down

Kids on streets will prove to be a problem this summer

Last week a young fellow (late at night) on a bike was seen breaking out these windows with no apparent reason than to see them crash

This night only the sunset on them
