May 7th

A bright sunny day

Spring and City Budget

Jin Chao at Anchorage C to pick up wheat -- here till 14th??

Spring in air – from Alders to dandelions

What is going on behind Credit Union – Pay parking?

Another sign of spring is Carnival in town

Then there is the post election worries

And don’t forget the 2011 PR budget

And more ‘unsightly’ stuff

Signs of spring

We see the alder trees are about at half leaf

DSCN8061

Another sure sign of spring is htat the tennis nets are up and people are bragging about their first game of season

And the dandelions seem to have gone into ‘full bloom’ around town – pretty late this year --- and varies with sun exposure

Even old PRDN is abloom --- sans employees

A new concrete pad seems to have been added – the blue arrow

Some knowledgeable people speculate that could go pay parking – so far those using it have done so for free etc

And what is going on Behind Credit Union?

Another sure sign of spring is that the Carnival is in town

They lucked out and got a beautiful Saturday afternoon – evening

Leftovers from the election

The image below was a Nathan Cullen poster that has since been removed

With the Harper majority one can anticipate that the Enbridge pipeline and offshore tanker traffic will be more likely --- but see

Sad day for Democracy in PR

Monday will be Citizens only chance to ‘stop’ tax rate increase

Capture_4

I will return to this Monday before the meeting

As I posted earlier --- we don’t really need a tax increase as there was apparently a mistake --- we don’t have a 480T$ shortfall – the paperwork said only 4T$ ---- but presumably Council will just pretend the error was not there and continue --- unless the Citizenry shows up and speaks out

This is the way public input is meant to be done under the Community Charter

Even Kitimat who is again facing a very tough year had a ‘3 day budget marathon with public input back in February

Oh yah, then there is the junket to China

Says only cost 5T$ each – but that is not clear if from the grant or in addition to grant from paperwork

I have clipped this out of the online Agenda package

Derelict town

The owner claims those old furnaces and washers etc are not his --- his are still in the house --- he offered to take them to the dump/ recycling if fee paid – but City refused (I heard it was done in an in-camera meeting – thus not technically legal)

More Derelicts

While the old Home Hardware Buidling gets much of Coucnil attention – there are numerous bildingsin worse shape – but no one on Coucnil ever mentions them --- perhaps owned by more important people – or at least with better connections at City Hall

Hey I liked this guy’s parking

Sure he was probably only there a few minutes – I saw him retuning from the Credit Union(??) seemingly with cash in hand etc
