More on new [Emergency Building etc
later in week --- Plus more on marine issues – fishing to canneries etc
An
impressive accomplishment for volunteerism |
Here
2 Councillors –Ken Cote (kibitzing) and Gordon Payne – painting for 2nd
day in row |

While
most the action this weekend was on Third Avenue – some on Second too |
Lots
of help |
Then
there was the vandalism |
First the Bank of Nova Scotia – then the
next evening Ling The Tailor building windows broken – Bar crowd? |

On
cruise ship and native culture |
Not sure if Henry Green carving fully
appreciated by Cruise ship passengers --- some seem
more interested in looking at local shops --- though numerous (especially
younger people) did stop and chat or look for increased understanding of what
they were seeing |

Henry
Green poster etc reminds observers that this is not
a ‘Crest’ pole but a story pole |
Pole
(I am told) was carved originally for the local college – but some dispute
over the crests |
Remember the dispute with
Museum ? |
Henry Green is now doing his carving
out at the Industrial park 220 Kaien Road—Site 5 –
the web site is currently down but I am told it will be up soon Remember the young girl who
accompanied his Council presentation? She is now 11 and created object left

Make
the Business Case |
This was to be done in 2010 – but different
projects completed like stand by power units etc |
Tanks
out of the ground and ‘remediation’ |
Two smaller tanks dug out earlier I
was told – presumably these larger tanks with water etc
– to flush out any residue oil/ fuels |
Innovative Tricycle
I
had to ask where the steering was—battery is in ‘back packs’ – the driver/
peddler said she was getting canvas/ tarpaulin to act as a hood from the
weather etc |
