January 17th

We See

Pineapple Express melting all that snow

Then tere are all those derelict cars --- all these look to be on public property --- and I bet all once owned by same person

All the snow is gone

But abandoned cars seem to be ‘everywhere’

Throwing snow on neighbour’s roof as Trespass??

Are wood pellets ‘green’?

Council Minutes and upcoming events

Dying spruce trees

Derelicts draw attention when covered with snow etc and other cars show they have moved in last few days

Car at left on 8th West has no insurance etc – and the tires are all flat --- should be some kind of fine involved --- otherwise left to taxpayers to remove

Of course ‘Common Law’ principle would win in Court --- one has a duty not to do harm to ones neighbours – and compensation can be paid for the damage or loss etc

Trespass??

Seems building on right has found an easy way to clean snow off their roof – just heave it onto the neighbour’s roof

City said ‘sorry’ but it is a Civil matter (sue them?) – Another observer suggested it is a form of Trespass --- (so call the Cops?)

Interesting BC has a wide Trespass law – property owner can stop kids from skateboarding on ones property etc

Arrow points to preliminary pilings site etc

We See – and hear – that the Transition House is commencing foundation work

We Hear too

That the new Seniors’ Residence is already taking applications with some people promised apartments already--

Pellet stoves etc often claimed to be ‘greener’ than alternatives --- depends --- have to figure in total ‘life cycle costs’ --- was it a by-product of a sawmill? Or especially manufactured? How far shipped etc

Also heard that gas boiler that heats swimming pool needs ‘work’

Presently costing 80T$ + a year just to heat the pool – I hear a salesman will be in town this week to give cost estimate for converting it to wood pellets --- or City could just get a more efficient gas boiler etc

Main short coming of pellets is the smoke (fine particulate matter etc)

The Grodecki minutes from the last Council meeting are online

I cut the item left from them --- I think this list given by Mussallem attend of meeting

No one seems to care

All these young spruce trees are dying from some unknown disease --- it is only a matter of time before they start falling as happened during the storm or 10/10/10 ---- the yello0w arrow pointing to a few scraggy cones --- should be lots of them but tree has ‘no energy’
