We See

Ship in Harbour – reflecting sunshine – then by late afternoon clouded over and looking bleak

Last of series about a dull Council meeting --- presumably all the interesting stuff done in-camera before the public meeting

Also ‘vicious dogs and

Derelict cars discussed

Probably the biggest ‘downside’ of this Council is how much it does in-camera –

Contrast that with Quesnel which is openly soliciting Budget inputs/ discussions

Below Councillor Gordon-Payne making comments

And Gordon-Payne was the one who wanted to meet in-camera before regular meeting rather than stay late into evening—And as I remember it was she too who ‘suggested’ that Council trips to UBCM etc not be discussed/ debated each year but just part of the budget

While it is unusual to see this kind of thing on a Council meeting – perhaps it reflects the post Bob Thompson era --- latter recently retired and he used to do the grant writing etc

Below are the 2 applications If both ‘approved’ tehn City will end up paying nothing

Above is part of the Hays Creek sewer line project

Items taken from the Agenda package

That is some HST bill ----on order of 33T$ extra cost

Dogs off leash at Moresby Park

The sign speaks of wolves – but a few days ago there was another hand written sign by a dog owner whose small dog was attacked and seriously wounded by a bigger dog that was off leash – requiring (14?) stitches --- The attacking dog was with a jogger and was unleashed --- the jogger was not even a little sorry or apologetic --- too bad authorities not called --- I suspect a vicious dog ruling would have been appropriate (see my earlier when being enacted)

Here is a problem with no easy solution

Perhaps this fellow thinks he is on his own property and not the public sidewalk ---

Worse the truck is not licensed --- or rather the license is 8+ years old

Back in August 2007 City ‘collected’ 755+ derelicts and sent them south --- I suggest a Bylaw should be written that no car allowed to stay over 2 weeks –unmoved – ‘Owner’ will have time to recoup it or lose it if fine not paid etc --- but have to define ‘derelict’ etc as this Ucluelet story illustrates and this City of Chilliwack Bylaw No. 3023 (large PDF) —makes it illegal to leave derelicts etc on public streets etc --- so easily doable ---See New West Bylaw where only 24 hours limit

Here are 3 more derelicts

Also unlicensed--- and on public property ---- I suspect there are hundreds of derelict cars sitting around PR streets --- waiting for the tax payers to move them ---- there should be a bylaw – but hard to write so ‘fair’ and this Council not interested (yes I brought it up at a question period)

Hays Creek frozen

But just up to the Civic Center then begins to flow freely again
