Council meeting

First look

August 16th

Peggy Davenport presentation on OCP goals and Enbridge tankers --- more later

Preliminary look at Meeting

Presentations are the whole show and good ‘community inputs’ from Peggy and Sean

Fresh paint – and Vandalism too

Main event

Ridley Terminals presentation --- things are looking good in 2010+

The main story for the upswing is demand from China for coal

China used to export coal

Now since 2002 it has been importing to feed its power needs

Given the new importance of exports to China --- Gordon Howie has even changed his business card to be translated into Chinese on one side – English on the other

Interesting oncept that I will return to later

At end asked his brother to come forward too – latter soon off to MIT – more later

UBC student and recent high school graduate from Rupert gave presentation on his vision of where Rupert should go with replacing land fill with incineration claiming 82% reduction in Green House Gas emissions

Still painting the town

Here Sheila Gordon Payne one of the volunteers painting the building last Sunday --- but is a fresh coat of paint all that is needed sowntown?

West End widow broken by vandals later Friday night (Saturday morning)

Rupert has high crime rate – and rampant vandalism downtown --- I will approach this over the next few days – looking into ‘where to go next’

Deer looking for similar type answers – where to go next to get some flowers – tasty weeds etc

Autumn already?

These leaves are changing colors --- could just be the local soil conditions --- but with all that wind Tuesday – might be ‘in the air’
