Interesting
meeting |
|
While the meeting lasted 3 some hours, it was not boring
--- about 35 people showed up for the first portion of meeting – then all left
after Jen Rice gave her ‘heart felt’ presentation/ question on Enbridge
sponsorship of upcoming NCLGA
meeting (Convention and
AGM) to be held in Rupert (May 11th – 13th) --- |
|
|
Jennifer
Rice asked NCLGA (someone gave score hockey game ‘still 1-0 favour of
Vancouver’) |
|
For those wanting to see this segment of the meeting on
the video or MP3 it is approximately 1:20 minutes into the meeting --- |
|
|
Nathan
Cullen also came to speak to Council – or rather to listen to their questions
and make comments |
|
This interesting back and forth went
from about minute 54 to approximately 1:20 for those that want to see it on
the video etc---Point Henry – Airport connector etc |
|
|
Tsunami
reporting out |
|
This was about 35 minutes into the meeting -- Provincial
Emergency Program (PEP)- threat
of Tsunami after the March 11th earthquake in Japan ---
Contacts were made and an all night vigil began – more later – warnings/
& effective communications main topics |
|
|
Update
Terrace Mountain Co-op |
|
Polly Rudderham and Francis Riley gave a short
presentation at beginning of COW meeting ----reported that approximately 250T$ has been collected and now on a
‘corporate drive’ emphasis with deadline still April 30th --- what
was interesting was Jack
Mussallem apparently donated 6,000$ (based upon the young woman’s
surprised outburst when she accepted the check) note too, the City Treasurer
said he could offer a flow through Charity donation receipt (more later) online
backgrounder of co-op |
|
|
And
City West gave its Internet usage spiel again |
|
Here Chad Cunningham – in what was essentially a replay of
last Council meeting (when power went out) the irony was that the Canucks’
hockey game probably meant very few TV viewers were watching his presentation
--- note too in later discussion the 1M$ dividend will be coming this year to
the City from City West (more later) |
|
While
I think this most ‘significant’ it was not as ‘interesting’ – generated good
discussion among Councillors --- motions passed 4-2 – and I bet it would have
gone the other way if Thorkelson had been present – more later |
And
there was a City Budget too |
|
|
|
The
vote highly significant – same breakdown when Howie contract voted on ---
only now Jack’s vote would only force a tie 3-3 --- more later on these ‘wild
speculations’ |
