October 18Th

We See --- Geese to SQCRD

And Mussallem gets mad

Leaky roof meant 12 units need to move – the storm of 10/10/10 is Rupert’s Katrina – a wake-up call – both to changed weather due to Global Warming – Plus Council’s unpreparedness for weather Emergencies

Interesting meeting at SQCRD

But first the Storm damage as ‘milestone’ --- both for new phase of Global Warming – and role of City etc

And will the Vandalism issue be scraped under table till next summer?

Seen and heard

The haunting call of geese migrating South – October 14th

Speaking of Council

I see here where Slickers windows replaced from the vandalism --- but nothing heard from Council on outcome of its Community Forum on Policing/ Vandalism  --- More later

SQCRD – living up to their ‘old boys’ status

More later on how they want to meet face to face from now on --- hopefully the Charlotte’s people will pay their own way and not rely upon Rupert Taxpayers – I say ‘hopefully’ but if the MIMC election expenses are any sign – Rupert will pay while Area D bickers

Rough Draft of Area D OCP

Official Community Plan --- because a Power Point Presentation given by Consultant – and those on phone not given advance copy – that was the rationale for meeting face to face in 2011

More on the OCP Tuesday

The above taken from the Minutes

This was from the minutes

Again hopefully Area D is paying the bill for their OCP --- they will be in 2011 (see below) --- Plus note the 132T$ Gas Tax --- more on this later but that was not what was said at last meeting & note the Resolution Number

How long has Holland been gone?

But note 8.3 --- the discussion of how the Board wanted different Budget items treated took up a good chunk of the meeting and was good use of an open meeting --- good for them for not going in-camera

Basic philosophic difference between Martin and Mussallem -- latter always wants to ‘leave it to management’ – while Jean wants Citizen input – more later --- but the distinction is fundamental for local governance

Then there were the questions --- and Mayor Mussallem loses his cool

Jean Martin asked a few simple questions about Recycling – which was met with a show of temper by Mussallem – who seemed to be threatening legal action for ‘Harassment’

While we have seen this behaviour before –still it was unexpected, unprofessional etc

More later

More later

Approved – or at least not opposed
