Hotel Sewer rates --- and Delivery parking + new eatery

Remember Storm of 10/10/10--- and learn from it

Wednesday PM – Community Forum report

Street Repairs and traffic

Major project took two days --- because it was a highway – had to keep open and limit closure each day --- and all this was to replace a sewer line

And pave it back every night

Main sewer line connection on this side of street – so repair starts here

This was very expensive for just a single connection ---I believe it illustrates why Hotelier was wrong to want to just compute sewer rates from water meter --- what about all these ‘system expenses’?

I hear everything worked out --- so connection made

And speaking of Sewer rates

This trailer will be here for weeks to months --- there are 3 sewer connections in photo – and another 5 on for trailers on front side of building --- How to fairly charge for them—not an easy problem

City Official Community Plan requires parking in front to business – for deliveries

A delivery truck

I saw refrigerated goods going to the new ‘Oyster’ House ---- at one time would have to break down these loads at local ware houses and then ship in smaller vehicles --- ironically this building was previously one of those ware houses

I hear Peg Legs now has a successor restaurant --- Local foods like scallops etc –or  so I heard

This is the role of City Council to look towards the next big storm --- where then will the trees potentially be that will come down? – Let’s do something about them now – More later

Trees and planning

I am presently trying to find the cost of cutting down these trees --- won’t be cheap – and I bet the City paid most (all?) of it --- even though not on City land

Spruce on City ‘right of way’

While it looks to be in someone’s front yard (we would have to get a surveyor) – probably on City property --- note the spruce tree is dead --- as are many others in town --- recently killed by some disease --- or because of ‘climate change’ ---- the dead/ dying spruce trees are ‘everywhere’ ---- we need a strategy for dealing with them

Here is a another example – cross highway from each other

Tree on the left is on private property --- below is on city ‘right of way’ --- it is just a matter of time until one or other ‘blows down’ --- unless pruned etc

Repairs at Aquatic Center

Looks like done by Private contractors --- the 50T$ the City estimated for storm damage certainly did not include this repair etc

---- and the ‘funny’ part is that the City’s internet page for ‘Emergencies’ – the link dates back unto 20009 --- but the page is still blank
