2nd look at SQCRD meeting

‘We do things our way’

See here for my part one of ‘old boys meeting’ – note that was exactly same reaction I had last year’s audit meeting

  We do it our Way

Hidden agendas – and Minutes –(below) -- note where Gas Tax allegedly (by me) spent illegally on QCIs

See my previous on this patio

But first a look at new patio

I am dubious about practically ‘giving’ (minimal rent) public space to the bar crowd – But this is one to watch

I was assured that no changes in liquor license needed as this patio is not for alcohol consumption nor the selling of booze – it is meant solely for a ‘safe place’ to smoke as patrons and staff were going out behind the bar to smoke and this site both safer and less unsightly.

But what about the restaurant and bar next door? I am told they were not consulted about putting in the patio – nor will their customers be able to use it --- though presumably the smoke from patio users can freely enter their establishment (aren’t there rules about how far away from entrance can smoke?) – more later

Much of the ‘business’ seems to be done in Committee meetings – at least the minutes go into the agenda package (for now)

2 items of interest from this meeting: collecting debts and OCP

Skidegate Band given an ultimatum

Would be interesting to see amounts owing and provisions of ‘Contract’ etc – and hear Skidegate concerns etc

OCP concerns the header said --- think it had anything to do with my question last meeting where I pointed out a legal condition for zoning etc was a functioning ‘Board of Variance’??

From minutes of last meeting ---I have had no response so far

More minutes

I have discussed this one partially last time

The Regional District is pretty lax about the rules and legalities – so I suspect the policy will be changed and announced next meeting – even though it may mean (or should mean) changing the ‘general procedures bylaw’ as per the Community Charter – but what ever

One would expect this to come up at the ‘main’ public meeting – never mentioned except for motion to accept minutes and its recommendations

The subdivision of a property at Hunt’s Inlet on Porcher Island – presumably owner wants to sell part for recreation properties – but provided drawings hard to ‘decipher’ – more later

Wind Farm on Digby?--- they plan to put up a wind mast at the end of the Airport Runway – go figure – more later

Below are excerpts from the maps at ILMB showing general location and specific site

We See – Mariners’ Park – City Works project

But when looking out have to notice the Cow Bay Parking lot and all the property the city bought when doing the cruise ship --- here labelled 1, 2 and 3

The landscaping looking good

While dated see my earlier for links etc to Cruise ship dock, Uplands project etc --- and here for the background to Cow Bay parking (links at bottom page)

And the new fence

More tomorrow
