June 18th

SQCRD --- Old boys club meeting

These guys are becoming a joke

Haida – Jasper pole in town Thursday night

I missed the actual showing of pole – Monica tells me a good PRDN story involving a grand daughter of carver will be published soon

Opinion 250 has good story with background—as does the Calgary paper

Original pole from Masset carved by Simeon – more later RBCM has Maynard 1884 photo of original pole photo (# 62240)

Slide after the heavy rains

I am told the slide does not come all the way down to road

Extra Foods gone and ---?

Arrow points to old Extra Foods sign – as I hear it the store’s lease expires end of June, critical if renewed or not – pickets will stay up if renewed I hear – Legalities are that a year and a day after ‘end of strike’ etc can open a new store with new staff etc

I will come back to this in future --- as have already discussed Koning salary etc ---and here for Board’s salaries and perks

Meeting tonight – but don’t ask any questions

Recycling has been controversial – there is a good report in minutes and we will see if Des Champ actually shows up to this meeting – part of the ‘management’ problems are that he has hired his brother etc

Recycling

Important as issue of SQCRD ‘management’ but also Regional response to going from Consumer Society to Sustainable Society locally/ regionally

below is the ‘Policy’ from the agenda package – note it was a ‘public comment’ before Mussallem changed agenda after one of my statements several months ago --- cloaking this as a policy rather than an actual change in ‘procedures’ is part of the ‘we do it our way’ mentality of both PR and SQCRD

What a joke

They get a few people coming to the meetings and asking questions – and they run in fear --- Mussallem was the lead in this silencing of public – more later

I have been here before— Des Nobles is employed by a fishery industry group that is in effect a lobby group. – Does he leave the room? No he usually leads the discussion

Conflict of Interest??

Again could be interesting

But looks like merely a move to pay a committee in Charlottes

This was a significant talk for local community and I will return to it also this weekend--- see my earlier

Shift from ‘Space based’ to ‘place based’ economies/ communities and implications for policy – for me one of key ideas is a ‘business plan’ by which to measure ones movements towards desired objectives --- in theory that is what our Annual Report’ is meant to do --- another Joke
