We See

Conflicts

Both the buck and the dog are young and inexperienced --- while the dog is aggressive barker against other dogs – was not sure what to do with the deer ---I eventually chased off the buck who seemed to be beginning to feel his testosterone

Old Boys Club?

Perhaps this is just the norm; in Gordon Campbell era --- here I am thinking of the BC Rail sale to CN and the subsequent Basi, Virk, Basi trial now going on (with judge, prosecutor etc in club??) publication bans etc but read this blog

Conflict of Interest? – We seen this before

I have alleged before that Des Nobles is potentially in ‘Conflict of interest’ over PNCIMA and SQCRD participation --- Others more knowledgeable contend he would only be in conflict if something supported by his employer, T Buck Suzuki, were ‘on the table’ ---- by implication he (but not Mayor Carol Kulesha(?), who is a licensed salmon troller, could represent ‘Communities’ on PNCIMA board

I counter that the Community Charter is clear: conflict is not only pecuniary but bias etc

But that is not my main point ---I believe the SQCRD has been used before by single interest ‘good old boys’ to further narrow interests in name of ‘Community representation’ etc --- Here I am thinking of Paddy Greene who was the SQCRD rep on the LRMP --- and spent most his time ‘Fighting Indians’ --- see my earlier with links at bottom page where special interests disguised as community representation etc

I will return to this later – Good old boys looking out for one another

Koning officially gone and Farrell in charge (maybe, sort of--) see my earlier for background

I was not able to learn his official position which is presumably still Deputy Administrator --- I suppose things will ‘officially’ change at next meeting

John did give me the info I had asked at a recent question period – note the question would have been ‘illegal’ under current question period rules  --- I had asked why the medical benefits etc not broken out in the SOFI document – I was given the following document today ---- note Port Edward rep Kristoff is heavy into PR paying his expenses etc (I mention this because Kristoff was recently in paper defending the restrictions on Public questions

I don’t think these were included in the SOFI document except as a total figure added on later

The positive part of this is that says the Electoral Areas paid their own way (‘from Electoral Areas Budget’) --- though I remain dubious --- more later

Left is from the SOFI

Here the total $22,857 for the CPP, Medical etc added to ‘Total Remuneration’ (sic) along with the per diems --- Note I expect Rupert Taxpayers not only picked up QCI reps – (and Port Ed) – but had to top up the Electoral Areas budget too

Movie Gallery closing

But then the chain across north America is in bankruptcy etc and closing – see Interior news article – and company ‘restructuring’ notice

Community Garden

Looks like the fence (to keep out the deer) built along with the boxes of soil filled etc

Rupert in Decline

These guys hanging out here – and elsewhere --- usually drinking – the stairs now vandalized --- What are ‘we’ to do? --- I suspect welfare is the leading employer in Rupert --- thus the need for ‘good old boys’ connections --- like government jobs etc (see above for ‘benefits’) and more later

Days getting shorter

End of flowering season etc
