perhaps 2 were student hires |
|
·
How much public $$ for flowers etc?? ·
Cruise ship day brings

Cruise Ship
Day – and as if ‘on demand’ the skies cleared and a sunny day broke out |

Downtown
bustling as cruise ship unloads tourists |

Sunshine
broke out |

High

The
high west of Washington state strengthened just enough to guide the rainy
system north of us and then after cruise ship left the clouds came back

Carving of large Eagle prompts an interesting conversation A
fellow who was also a professional carver from Kincolith was critical of the
production – he could see it was done with power tools etc – while he would
make his own tools etc – I think he has a large eagle at home he gave his
wife – but he thought she would not want pictures taken of it etc |
|

Harvey’s
family history etc depicted on this Dempsey Bob remake of an earlier pole
from Nass area |
|
At bottom is an
eagle – then the 3 brothers (Harvey named them off ---one being his father-- but
I might have mixed them up so will follow up later) --- there are 6 slaves
(who may have been ‘sacrificed’ at original story’s pole raising) and on top
are 2(?) eagles (again differing from original) – more later |

College
Library |
|
Open
in summer – but vandalism causes ‘check-in’ |
|
|
Because
doors to south block allow one to roam throughout building has required that
now check in at the main desk in the North block – take the over-head passage
to the library etc ---- See notices on South Door for hours after August 30th
etc |

The demise
of PRDN |
|
While
the free delivery to everyone in Rupert was a questionable business strategy
– it does leave the local advertisers looking for alternatives --- here this
week-ends flyer is put in windows of local store |
|
|
Found Art |
|
This
is the back of a now closed hardware store --- how much ‘revitalization’ $$ would
it take to fix it up? That the store is not open should make a difference but
looks like all the details to who qualifies for tax break and what they have
to do remains an Unknown – presumably totally left to staff to decide --- a
formula for abuse – unaccountability etc |
