Fog
and Rain --- Gordon Howie quipped: ‘Been a nice summer--- both days of
it’---- Still this is price of living on coast where hot interior brings in
the ocean fog etc |

Moving
right along – we see the outside contractor drilling in the Civic Center lot ---
perhaps approximate location of pumping station (see previous) |
|
Is there any rationale for differences? |
Class
politics at managerial level??? |
|
As
stated at recent City Council meeting there are 7 managers receiving a car allowance
– with 2 top managers (Howie and Horne) getting full 3,600$ per year ---
While Rodin only gets $2,100 (I learned exact figures thanks to an FOI) The
above 2 managers both on the airport ferry – presumably Pierce is the Captain
and Rothwell the first mate --- note the >50% differences in car
allowance--- I have also extracted their relative pay from the SOFI
(statement of financial information) Does
the differences in Car Allowances reflect how much they use their car for the
job? Or just ‘how much their car costs etc (I am being facetious) |
|
|
At
least here Horne does much more driving etc |
$8,838 in
Expenses?? --- I suppose all those expensive Hotels add up etc Only former
Civic Center manager Michael Curnes even came close with his $7,052 in
expenses |
|
It wasn’t too long ago that Ling the
Tailor building had the outside canopy removed by city worrying the snow
would cause it to collapse – the old totem looks to be just as vulnerable ---
but perhaps have better placed friends at City Hall (See my previous page and the
links) |
Boondoggle? |
|
The downtown ‘Revitalization’
looks to me as a potential cash giveaway – presently the bylaw has no rules
nor objectives – thus when Prince George went through this exercise they did
it with the idea that getting more people living downtown would revitalize
their older stores etc – thus to be eligible one option was to convert parts
of building etc to housing --- The PRDN did a story on the PR revitalization
in which they seemed to have been told that applications would need to be
approved by October 31st --- Who knows what is in Rupert’s Bylaw
but 31 October is date that a renovation has to be finished so that BC
Assessment can do a new appraisal for the upcoming tax year etc |

Street Trees
|
|
At one time City Hall vexed itself with questions of what kinds of street trees to put in – pots or free standing as at left –well this one (among several others is dying/ dead) – But look what kind of tree it is – some sort of ornamental Oak --- probably grows well in California or some such
