We See

From Sewers to revitalization

Monday with clear skies in West – and strong onshore wind – while clouds and showers pushed east etc

·        W Angus memorial

·        Hays Creek sewer line diversion

·        Spruce needle die off

·        Stage at Spirit Park being built

·        Street art in PR

Memorial at Nisga’a hall

I was told it was for William Angus – more formal event at Civic Center later in day ---Bus from Gingolx (Kincolith) brought down 17 people – others drove

Hopefully contract will be tendered soon and work commence in a month or so with tentative completion next spring

City Crews probing sewer lines

This is the parking lot beside Civic Center – see left map below where approximately at the blue arrow --- As reported before (and earlier with links) , this is in anticipation of the 5M$ Hays Creek diversion project --- here presumably still fine tuning the route etc

Diagram of present sewer lines centering on Hays Creek

See my earlier for more background

Getting the Sewer lines out of Hays Creek --- Here is what I understand of the routing etc

Below is an image from engineering where currently fine tuning exactly where the diversion line will go (I have added the arrows)  --- first have to take it up 9th Ave  (in the map below the blue arrow is McBride street – and the 2 yellow arrows are the diversion route – the wider yellow arrow indicating the new Hays Creek route --- the thinner yellow still tentative where the line will go --- nor clear from image how it will be pumped – this map indicates pumped from civic center area lot etc

Spruce needle die off

Numerous trees around town with this needle cast --- elsewhere --- usually associated with areas where obviously dying – will research further as no ‘quick answer’ on Google etc for Sitka Spruce

Here the new stage getting built at ‘Spirit Park’

Originally it was meant to be up on the summit – but rock just below surface etc meant that easier digging down here – and audience can sit on hill to look down at stage etc --- the covering will only be set up when events planned – thus no worries vandalism and heavy winds etc I was told

Art in PR

I will come back to this later – but local artists are our best feature at present time
