Would the Old
DQ building qualify for Revitalization $$? As there are presently no
guidelines, rules nor objectives --- Yes |
|
·
Gillnet opening on Skeena ·
Vandalism ·
Fruits of summer ·
Art on Tour bus ·
Revitalization –examples elsewhere ·
Hays Crk Sewer line Revitalization
should be ringing alarm bells as a potentially good idea could become a
boondoggle |
|
|
Gillnet
opening on Skeena Today July 12th |
|
As
the results from the Tyee Test fishery show the returns have been
inconsistent ---- presumably the opening meant to reflect the 2 days of
strong returns (red line) which took the prediction forecast just over the
fishable minimum --- plus there are record returns on the Columbia River to
south --- but as this upriver
Blog site sees it, the opening may be premature by DFO responding more to
Gillnetters’ dire financial situation than a risk averse Wild Salmon Policy
etc |
|
Let the
Vandalism begin? Presumably window
broken out Friday night |
Fruits of
Summer |
|
Store
on McBride brining in BC cherries etc |
|
|
Tour bus as
traveling post card |
|
The
driver saw me taking a picture and pointed out the ‘photoshopped’ items – which
were prominent tourist sites from east to west, thus Drumheller Alberta to Rockies
and then on to Hecate Straits and Haida Gwaii on other side of bus ---completing
the itinerary Here
is the company and their tours |

|
Saw City
Crews repairing the wall as the arrow shows with concrete |
City Crews
and Revitalization |
|
But
while there saw palimpsest
of the past uses of the building – arrow points to CO-OP – HY Wave etc |
|
Note
in Williams Lake it
is City Council that makes the final decision and not staff --- but as there
are presently no objectives nor even guidelines to what is meant by
‘revitalization’ – how can we discuss the merits of the PR program?? ----
Most worrisome is the amount of $$ involved for taxpayers and the potential
for favouritism (even potential for ‘favours’ to staff etc) More later
in week |
Why is city
‘sneaking’ this through in summer lull etc |
|
Sure
lots of other municipalities have used this relatively new tool from BC
Liberals –BUT |
|
|
Hays Creek
Sewer line diversion |
|
I
will also work up this file during the week --- one of prime alternative
scenarios was one sewer treatment facility based on waterfront (green circle
on left) --- all the Sewage treatment options consider Hays Creek as the main
conduit to 40% our total waste production Plus
Hays Creek presently receives major storm water run-off which should also be
diverted More
later |
