City Council tonight

Introducing the issues: from windmills to remediation

  Hwy 37 as business friendly

For me the main event was the Jedway Mine site remediation on QCIs --- meeting dealt with some paperwork issues – but introduces the project to wider public --- this long abandoned mine (closed February 1968) seems to be both a source of serious contamination to streams etc – but also a potential mining opportunity to rework the tailings – see the QC Observer story  --- and the Google map image on Wikimapia article (More later)

Fighting Windmills --- More Later

Introduced the new Treasurer Ms Wick – presumably now H Koning (center) stint will soon end (after the budget?) and John Farell will take over as CAO

On Budget issues and future changes

While not discussed – seen as a budget discussion, thus dealt with either in-camera or later when budget comes to public meeting – I will return to this but using the Gas Tax for 1st Nations as ‘their share’ of dump closure seems dubious to illegal --- Plus paying 400$/ electoral area rep for meetings (their budget? Or will ‘they’ just dip into ‘Administrative Budget’ (thus mainly (75%) PR taxpayers) more later

Looks like a long one with most the interest being on various presentations etc

City Meeting tonight

More delegations

I note in passing that there is no ‘Questions from Public’ --- which will be first time in years – maybe decades (if proves to be the case) – but blame it on me – I asked a real groaner of a question last COW meeting as I had ‘prepared’ an item that was dealt with in agenda pkg, so tried to come up with another one during the meeting)
