Good Council meeting

Council ‘finally’ gelling into a productive group

For me Ashley and Garon were the ‘stars’ – or perhaps their relative youth helping in this gruelling endurance meeting that started at 5PM and went on after official meeting closed – Watson Isl + Budget?

Second --- hey they are looking/ thinking

Cut the golf course down to size: $72,500

And Council does matter

Meeting even brought out John Marogna from ‘retirement’ to ask questions and wanting to have developers/ business community kept better informed --- especially on items likely to cost them $$$ (here the zoning amendments and parking etc)

I will return to this later as deserves community scrutiny --- the parking seems to me a throw back to the 1960s mindset --- and only Thorkelson dared question the planners analysis

Tell us (staff) how to interpret this bylaw --- but better approach would be to ‘talk to’ Marogna and downtown merchants first --- I will argue later that these onerous car orientated rules came in with Cow Bay and are now being applied to whole City --- in contrast to a ‘Green approach’ which would ‘rethink’ transport etc moving towards public transit, sustainability (More later)

More later

So the hospital is donating the Healthy Heart equipment

to the gym where City Staff etc will get free use of it --- while those heart patients etc will have to pay big bucks to use the equipment – More later

More on RMs and Cs later
