We See

Flowers and facades

Not keeping up the façade, you say --- call out the by-law officer --- or give them a carrot?

So which absentee landlord facades were they complaining about?

Worrisome too that three of these Councillors own downtown buildings – so they may be getting close to conflict of interest

Been here before

The Innlander was object of same ‘what will the tourists think’ argument some years ago – so a façade was put on --- but inside nothing improved – see earlier for its facade

All Native Basketball Tournament – brings in the crowds to Civic Center complex

Northern View has daily results --- Civic Center huge draw on local taxpayers

Northern View has online story for the Library closure: cuts in budget by both City and Province requires service reductions etc

Civic Center needs to cut back ‘services’ too

See my previous where I show the Civic Center actually complex costs taxpayers about 3.2M$ per year --- info left shows only one segment --- but as I said earlier: we need better info for the discussion – and unlike the library there is no public oversight of facility other than City Council

The Red bar is the monthly Average temperature and the blue is the actual number

While January 2010 is the warmest of the series it was held ‘down’ by a cold spell at beginning of the month – unlike January 2006; unfortunately the online data does not give January 2005 which was the last El Nino

Looking at El Nino year & January temperatures

Above I have used ‘Heating Degree days’ from the Weather Office web site – shows there has been a gradual cooling till 2008 for January temperatures and rapid warming since

Shrub in flower outside Zellers on 2nd Avenue

Strange to see flowers this early – but Snow Drops out too

Freighter in background and Cosco on RR tracks

Is this the Garv Prem? Need binoculars – if so it is here for wheat

I will return to this

City has sold the old CN Via station – but was not finalized until January 2010 --- Too late for the hoped for Via station transfer which has presumably renewed its lease for 3 years at present location --- Some suggest ‘delay’ in transfer ‘caused’ by City – more later – see March 2009 where rezoning—and declared heritage siteMore later
