We See Cold & Snow

Where is the Rain?

Is that white stuff snow?

Look at 2010 --- here the Watson Island story

And a look at Youth Hub’s Mural

And the kids really seem to enjoy the snow

Then Nuisance houses and again snow on Mountains as both ‘indicators’ & Traces of Past

Of Course the ‘clear and cold’ better than blizzard

Seems like yesterday every time the sidewalks got cleaned off there was another snow shower – adding a couple more inches – well good exercise anyways

Watson Island ---2010 economics non event

Cut and pasted from October budget update--- here Watson Island revenue and expenditures are the main points (others given for sense of scale) –Note loss of 740T$ --- See my query of Watson Island expenses earlier this year  Note the 2009 expenses on graph add up to about 150T$ not the 44T as above PR_

Sweating the small stuff

As I said last time, we minutely inspect ‘Community Enhancement Grants’ (all 93T$ in total of them) but hardly mention Watson Island --- though we are finally turning over the upkeep costs to the proponents ---- Probably we will never know the intrigues here --- earlier 1st Nations, CN and Port said to be involved  --- City was said to be being negative towards 1st Nations —now Prince Rumour is that only CN and Port remain

As always the Kids are among most unreported items in PR

This mural was one of the most positive things that happened this year (as their motto says ‘We Must Be the Change We Wish to See’)

August 16thone of earliest images of the Mural

A few days later --

And in November putting in late hours

--- An earlier Mural at Zorbas from 2003

And in 2008 a look at Russell Mather murals, totems etc --- totem links bottom page

The snow was ‘perfect’ for snowmen

Wet enough to roll into great building blocks easily

And of course it would not be snowy without my pedestrian gripes about motorists and city crews pushing snow up on sidewalks so cars can move freely

Here a sudden snow storm in March 2007

And Feb 20008 where City hires extra crews to push snow up on sidewalks

Push snow on sidewalk

Ditto in December 2009

This is from today 29/12/2010 --- this fellow blocks pedestrian crossing and uses the snow clearing to get out of his vehicle

Pedestrians? They should get a car like real people

Insert is the license plate from van

Last times snow man did not last long

‘Unfortunately’ the forecast this time is not for warmth but more snow

We’ll see – ‘where is the Pineapple Express’ when you need it?

While not tidy—hardly worse than a lot of other properties in same area

Nuisance Bylaw properties

This is one lot (2 houses) that was given Notice at December 13th meeting – I will discuss the Nuisance Bylaw and ‘Revitalization Tax benefit next time as significant (sic) council stories for 2010

The snow on the distant mountains brings out features one would usually not notice --- arrow is to a series of trees which must reflect soil conditions

See this 2006 page and links for previous – especially ‘Traces in Time’ (2004) which is same view as here t

Snow reminds one to look around --- as seen while standing by Safeway store

As the sunny day ends

That is a system moving in --- but not a ‘Pineapple’ yet --- another few days of snow first
