We See

Frost on Sunday

Better frost than snow --- And clouding over so temperature rising

Large Frost crystals

Several key issues on agenda --- Revitalization tax exemptions--- Water & sewer ---+ Garbage fee increase

City Council meeting Monday

Looks like it will be a long one --- Revitalization Tax Exemption scaled back to 1 year and new formula --- Water & Sewer complicated but looks to have given the Hoteliers what they wanted ---- The garbage fee increase predictable this time of year

Or maybe only half year as a school? – needs clarification

A little oversight? I see where the alternative school given tax exemption for 2011 ---- when not used as a school?

Like I said a long –long evening --- the interesting part is that all the Community grants listed in a table – comparing 2010 to 2011 etc (see agenda pkg )

A Community asset --- but could prove to remain a huge expense for City with little ‘control’ if 3+ year contract signed --- requires more discussion---See my earlier for Golf course Council presentation

No total $$ given here --- and we will be on the hook for 3+ years --- So how much will City pay in salaries?

And we see the ‘new’ 2 hour parking signs are mostly up – a mere 10T$ estimated expense

A continuous theme in PR politics --- mainly Cow Bay whining etc --- see my Dec 2007 where it was an innovation to have only 1 hour parking downtown to increase turnover etc --- lots of links at end of that story’s page

I like this --- call out the Nuisance bylaw officer

Pigeons have found themselves a perfect home --- missing panels allow them a good view – and the sidewalk reeks of their droppings ---- See the stories where old Home Hardware building got the City’s ire --- so what happened to the required clean-up?

We See lots of activity around town

Now I wonder if these guys ever got around to paying their taxes?

Presumably this is part of the sewer line replacement work in Hayes Creek – see my earlier etc

Storm damage from the 10/10/10 winds

Makes you wonder how the roof could have held out for the last couple months

Container Traffic and Port

The port is the only bright spot in PR economy at present--- thus some community members worried about the recent ‘train whistle blowing report that was given the City on November 30th

The immediate future of the CN waterfront property

See my earlier page for whistle blowing –the rumour going around is that CN has ‘plans’ for the area

I am hearing all the CN area will be behind fence/ barbed wire --- as Containers stored down here

City etc given notice to remove things stored in this warehouse

I hear the building will be torn down – and that all this area will be used for storage of Containers etc --- will mean no more pedestrians walking around etc --- hopefully only temporary until Watson Island cleared up

Old CN station is an eyesore ---where should be a tourism attraction

Inside said to be filthy with pigeon droppings --- and there is so much potential there

Here are some of the illustrations from building posters --- the blue arrow left is a PR address while the company from Vancouver etc

See my previous for CN station – and the erosion of foreshore along tracks by wave action etc (scroll down)

Here is another idea

Why not try to combine the Ferries to villages and the one to the Airport? --- Maybe even under BD Ferry contract
